Organize your Accounts list

To keep my Accounts list organized by type, I add a prefix to the account name like this:

$ Cash

+ My Checking

+ My Savings

- Credit Card 1

- Credit Card 2

x Paycheck

Bama91

Rearrange your charts on the Accounts home page

You are now free to rearrange your charts on the Accounts home page - just drag and drop them by grabbing the handle (located at the top-center of the chart).

Record a Paycheck

Prevent merchant edit from affecting multiple transactions

Add an exclamation point (!) before the merchant name and it will only modify the current transaction.

Bama91

Revert merchant edit to original text

Clear out (delete) your custom merchant/payee name and the original name will be automatically inserted

Trick for correcting the balance on a non-cash account

Create a text file called "set_balance.qif" with only the following content:

!Type:CCard

Test

^

Next, go to the Accounts tab and click on the date (to the right of the Balance), then browse for the qif file created above.  Click Upload and Wesabe will prompt you to enter a new balance.

Bama91 Bama91: I have only done this for a credit card account so you might need to modify the Type specified in the qif file for other account types.

Undo an account upload

Just click Edit on your account and go to Manage Account Uploads, then click "delete" next to the upload you want to remove.

Change the effective transaction date

When you edit a transaction, you can now change the effective date for reports and graphs.  For example, suppose you withdrew cash from an ATM on the last day of the month, but you actually spent the cash in the next month.  You can now change the date so the cash can be tagged in the month spent.

Let Wesabe do the math for you on the one-time tag line

For example, suppose you have a $35.13 transaction.  You can enter the following:

groceries:(2.33+5.45+1.11)*1.065 health-care:(3.12+4.4)*1.065 kids:17.65

...where your local tax rate is 6.5%.  Wesabe will automatically fill in the remainder of $17.65 when you enter the last colon.  When you save the transaction, Wesabe correctly calculates the individual tag amounts as follows:

groceries:9.47 health-care:8.01 kids:17.65
